Movie Review by Zara

There's a pretty good reason why this movie never made it to a theater near you... it's pretty bad, even if it is starring a couple of the popular ladies of SNL, Rachel Dratch being one who also had a hand in writing the script as well as starring in the movie.

What could have been more interesting - a trio of best friends from college decide to go out on a delayed spring break and become the wild and crazy girls that they never were when they were younger - gets mired down in a sub-plot where Parker Posey's character works for a woman who is the spitting mockery of Sarah Palin (except blonde and this was written before anyone know who Palin was or gave a sh*t) has to track down her college aged daughter and keep her from getting into trouble.

Thing is, there's nothing wrong with the girl, a younger version of what the women featured were back in their day, a little geekette. And the assumable happens when those who were meant to keep her out of trouble instead end up getting her into it.

There's a lame ending and a crappy feeling about the comedy overall. This is a movie about female empowerment set in one of the places where most of the stupid females of the planet congregate to forget they have any brains at all - Florida for spring break. The movie tries to balance this out by having lots of language but no bared breasts, standard in a normal movie from this genre, had it not been pretending to be a feminist stance.

I liked Jane Lynch a lot as the wiry Republican potential first vice-president. But Lynch is seeming to always deliver in everything she's been in recently. And I liked Poehler and Dratch but Parker was miscast. She's no longer the geeky quirky cult girl actress. She's grown up out of the ugly duckling phase and is actually a hottie in her own regard, voiding her legitimacy in the role.

I guess I just like my dumb spring break movies to be dumb and male oriented. It's what makes them more fun.
