Favorite Movie Quote: "Don't eat me after I set you free."
It is always interesting for me to find a common opinion of a movie in fellow filmgoers. Upon returning home from the Multiplex, I came here and read Jarrod and Matthew's reviews and they basically cover the reasons why this movie fails. I wont waste time reiterating the same thing in my own words.
In addition I would like to give a few personal reasons as to why I was disappointed. First off, I liked Steven Strait as Caleb in The Covenant and as Warren Peace in Sky High. He has a bright and contagious smile and it is clear he has the heart of a hero. Too bad the script for 10BC doesnt have the wit of one.
Camilla Belle does well here as she doesnt have many lines. Her character is taken into A-List slavery, where she doesnt have to toil or sweat but she feeds the others and gets tied up at bedtime. Maybe the "Almighty" wasnt building a temple but a prehistoric hotel chain.
I spent the scenes involving Cliff Curtis wondering where do I know that guy from? I just did my research and found that he was "Bully" in Once Were Warriors, an excellent film about struggle and tradgedy where ironically in that, he plays a giant beast.
At one point I turned to my friend and exclaimed, "This movie is pissing me off."
I had to stifle my laughter over the blind guy who speaks high-pitched gibberish and is kept on a stretcher in a solitary confined hole in the ground. Probably as punishment for botching one of those 10 inch manicures.
Anyhoo, I would have had more fun ad-libbing this one at home a la Mystery Science Theater in my underoos.
