Movie Review by Zara
November 20th, 2008

I would best describe this movie as Mia Farrow's character talks lovingly about DRIVING MISS DAISY. It is a sweet movie with heart and good intentions, even if there are some parts to it which make it a tad unpalatable.

Of course, I'm a Mos Def fan. I love his subtlety and the way that he genuinely is a good actor in whatever role he's in with little fuss over him. He just delivers what is needed each and every time. This makes him no show-stealer if your idea of show stealer is a Jack Black type, but for me, I highly appreciate his delicately nuanced performances and always look forward to seeing him in new projects. It was because of him that I decided to check the movie out to begin with.

And I'm a little surprised at the largely negative reviews (although half are deeming it mediocre with 3 stars and two just either weren't impressed or hated it) since I found some good solid laughs at the two men making their "Sueded" movies for customers who should have changed over to the DVD format a long time prior. This is another part of the sweet factor of the movie, that there are those who are willing to stick to the heart of their community because of its unique nature and the inventive tactics of two tenuous friends.

Anyhow, I liked it. I didn't love it, but I did like it.

This was a decent movie to chuckle at due to the low production vallue of the movies they try to recreate. It doesn't quite come off as preachy as Nacho Libre, but it has the same, tame inoffensive humor.
