Movie Review by Tim
June 30th, 2008

I AM afraid of those ghosts..

Favorite Movie Quote: "Are you the Key Holder or the Gate Keeper?"

Big disappointment. When I saw the preview for the first time I was really into seeing this film. Almost a montage of classic films looked to have parodies made by Jack Black and Mos Def which sounded awesome. Then adding Danny Glover into the film had me really intrigued.

First off the plot is just ridiculous and unrealistic. You have a setting of "real life" with some just really unbelievable things thrown into the script that doesn't make sense and gives the film a really choppy vibe.

My friend and I barely finished it past the 20 minute mark about the time that Jack Black learns he has been "magnetized." First off this film coming out in 2008 and STILL features a VHS rental store that does not offer any DVD's....that in itself made me not want to finish it. Almost as if a 2008 film, set in 2008 had the main characters looking for a pay phone cause no one had cell phones or something.

When the first parody starting coming about I started regaining interest cause the Ghostbusters stuff was pretty cool and since I am a fan of the movie it was cool to see them do it. Then the other films such as Rush Hour 2 and Driving Miss Daisy just seemed really thrown together last minute like they did not spend nearly the time trying to make those scenes as good. Also the films they picked to "remake" just wouldn't be my choices to see.

Even as much as I like Mos Def and Danny Glover still both of them seemed to just be cashing in on a paycheck almost as if neither had any real interest in the film.
