Movie Review by Dave
January 5th, 2009

This is Frank Miller's Batman. That's the highest praise I can give the movie, and if you're a Batman comic fan, you know what I mean.

It is a tragedy, of course, that Heath Ledger won't be around to collect his Oscar for his portrayal of Joker, for surely he must win it posthumously. Try as I might, I could not see past the character and see the actor, and it wasn't just because of the makeup. This was the Joker as he should be. Sorry Jack. Sorry Caesar. You were merry jesters, but Heath was the Joker.

Christian Bale returned to his role as Batman and, as far as I'm concerned, remains the best of the long line of pretenders to the cape, also. And what a wild ride he gives us.

The story took a turn at the end that I didn't expect, and it will be interesting to see where they take that in the future. I'm hoping it's laying the ground work for "The Dark Knight Returns", and I can't wait to see that.

See this movie!
