Best Comic Movie of All Time

Favorite Movie Quote: "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

A stunning masterpiece in the form of comic book movies. Never before have superheroes and villains been so humanized while also remaining true to their literary roots.

Where the first film was all about the origins of Batman, in this film the Dark Knight takes a back seat to the tale of Harvey Dent (Aaron Eckhart), a well-meaning DA, and The Joker (Heath Ledger), a chaos-loving anarchist.

It is hard to talk about anything other than Ledger when it comes to this movie. His last completed screen performance is all the more heart-wrenching because it shows us where he could have gone, what kind of star he was about to be. He loses all the Jack Nicholson's kitsch and reinvents The Joker as a madman with a plan, a bad guy who has you at every turn. He is at once 'A Clockwork Orange's Alex mixed with the power of John Malkovich while also bringing something new and surprising to the villains of the past. His performance is that of a character actor at his finest, and yet Ledger was undoubtedly a leading man. He will be missed.

The visual style of this film must be recognized. Never before has the hyper-reality of comics bleed so seamlessly into our own world. Christopher Nolan is the new great director of our age. The film never dulls or bores and you can never take your eyes off of it. It is an experience.

The greatest comic book movie of all time, easily, but it may also be one of the best movies period.
