I'm so buying the soundtrack to this!
Favorite Movie Quote: "Jim Rhodes: [upon rescuing Stark] How was the fun-vee?"
First, let me just say: If you haven't seen it...go! NOW!
Why are you still here reading this? Go!
This movie kicked ass and rocked my world. I like comic books, but I was more of a Spiderman fan. I sort of knew the other heroes from different friends...and often cartoons made about them when I was younger. So, I knew of Iron Man, but never really knew the story behind it. This flick takes you through the history in a timely and entertaining manner...starting out with some big Bangs!
The story of a weapons inventor's son: Tony Stark...that inherited his father's company as well as the talent in building and inventing. A group of terrorists kidnap Stark while he's in Afghanistan doing a weapons demo. Being kidnapped and seeing all of his company's weapons being used against innocents opens his eyes. This was the part that really made me glad, because most people in Stark's shoes would have built them the damned missile so they could go home (even though it was doubtful they would have released him), but Stark sticks by his guns and fights back! A true hero!
When I first saw the trailers for this flick I wasn't sure how Robert Downey Jr. would do as Tony Stark...I used to really like him, but after his drug addiction and everything he's been through I kind of thought he was sort of...worn thin (for lack of a better description). Boy was I wrong! He totally nailed the character.
I've never been so conflicted in my life when it comes to Jeff Bridges. How does he go from 'The Dude' to the 'Iron Monger'? I've never been so disappointed to HATE a bad guy in my life. By that I don't mean he was bad in his role...I mean I love that guy and the character he plays in this flick (Obadiah Stane/Iron Monger) is the kind of bad guy that you really hate. He pulled it off wonderfully...like too good at being bad.
I thought all the characters really matched the personalities that the actors gave them and overall it was an excellent movie. My interest is really piqued by the ending...you know...the part after the credits role (Props from one payroll clerk to another for Caroline Andrade) and I'm super excited by what lies ahead.
GO SEE IT! You wont regret it!
(Sorry if this review is scatterbrained and crazy...I was so excited I couldn't stay on one topic long...lol...that's how much I liked this flick.)
