AN OVERLOOKED 50'S GEM
Released in 1950 - NO WAY OUT is an excellent sample of Film Noir at its finest.
This highly-intense drama about racial hatred and vicious intolerance pulls no punches. It's straight between the eyes with a clear view of some brutal reality and prejudice as it existed in America in the late 1940's.
When a white patient in a NYC hospital dies under the care of a black Intern, the dead man's racist brother seeks to utterly destroy the doctor's career. Although the hospital's idealistic Chief Resident tries to diffuse the escalating tension, the deceased's ex-wife seems to go along with the nasty vengeance seeker - Until she realizes, before it's too late, that she's on the wrong side.
Superb performances by RICHARD WIDMARK, LINDA DARNELL and SIDNEY POITIER make NO WAY OUT a truly gripping movie-experience from start to finish.
