Outstanding

From the clicking of the typewriter to the sweeping landscapes captured by the formidable eye of Joe Wright, this movie is among my favorites of the year. Wright has followed his great adaptation of 'Pride and Prejudice' with this adaptation of the Ian McEwan novel.

This is the story of a great misunderstanding that rips two lives apart while one little girl must live with the consequences of her immature jealousy for the rest of her life. There is a kind of rapid passion between Keira Knightley and James McAvoy that keeps us interested in their love story. With other actors it might have become dull and forgettable, but with these two the tension could power all of London. Saoirse Ronan is a real find as the younger sister of Knightley, she was rightly nominated for an Oscar and as she transitions into an adult, the two actresses that follow keep her wide-eyed analytical sharpness.

Yes, this movie is a sweeping epic love story like many that have come and gone, but it is also a case of everything being done right in the genre and it proves how lovely these kind of movies can be. A true achievement.
