Movie Review by Tim

Best opening scene in a long time!

Favorite Movie Quote: "there was not suppose to be a gun"

So as soon as this movie starts you get to see a wonderful scene. I mean I honestly thought I had put the wrong movie in as you see a very intense sex scene between Philip Seymour Hoffman and Marisa Tomei. If you were ever wondering how good Marisa Tomei looks naked and engaging in sexual acts then its probably BETTER then expected. If you ever wondered how Philip Seymour Hoffman looks naked and engaging in "doggy style" sexual acts then you really either need to get laid or have your head examined. I think Hoffman is one of the greats but he isn't high on the list of actors that I want to see naked.

So its a robbery movie about two brothers robbing their parents jewelry store because both are in financial trouble. Hoffman is about to get caught by the IRS stealing or embezzling money, you never really know exactly what he has been doing but you know he is in some serious sh*t. The other brother played by one of my least favorites Ethan Hawke is behind on child support and needs money to give to his daughter.

So they come up with this idea that they can rob this old lady that runs their parents store on the weekends, get about $600,000 in jewelry in cash and then their parents will get a nice insurance check so they really will not lose anything.

The problem is that a guy that Hawke sends to do the job shoots their mother which was not suppose to be there and gets killed himself. So the whole job is screwed up and then its one thing after another making them closer to getting caught.

It is a decent film worth watching but other then the sex scene and nudity scenes with Marisa Tomei there is not anything that memorable about it. Hoffman is on point as always, Hawke just gets on my nerves in EVERYTHING so I have nothing good to say about him.

One interesting factor in the film is that Marisa Tomei is cheating on Hoffman with Hawke so yes she is having sex with two brothers.......

"If you ever wondered how Philip Seymour Hoffman looks naked and engaging in "doggy style" sexual acts then you really either need to get laid or have your head examined." Maybe they need to get laid AND have their head examined.

Tim, haha. It amazes me that two people whose sensibilities are ssssooooooooo different can get along so well. I just watched this movie (review coming soon) and I thought it was f*cking amazing, easily the best movie of last year that I didn't see last year(how did it NOT get nominated for Best Picture? My god.). I can not believe you said it was "decent", "nothing too memorable". What am I gonna do with you young Malcolm?

On the other hand I was a little shocked by how hot Marisa Tomei was myself. Wowza.

Though actually I should say I also did not want to see Phillip Seymour Hoffman naked and if I never do again it'll be too soon and I also can't stand Ethan Hawke...which is why I thought this role was (finally!) perfect for him. Whiny, spoiled, punk-ass idiot.

Ethan Hawke was one of my problems, and Im not sure if you know this or not but Phillip Seymour Hoffman has been one of my favorites of all time ever since I saw him in Owning Mahoney.

I think he is one of the most underrated actors in all of the world. I liked this movie but it was not the best it could have been. I would elaborate more on it but honestly sitting here thinking about it after I just woke up Im not remembering too much about it.

You know, I thought he was overrated. I've always liked his work but I thought the rush to call him great was unfounded. But he is MAGNIFICENT in this. Really, really amazing.

If you have not seen Owning Mahoney...I would say rent it ASAP....
