Frozen with Fear

Produced by Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert and directed by Hard Candy's David Slade is it any surprise that 30 Days of Night is that good? It is a simple plot about an Alaskan town that for one month is completely cloaked in darkness with no transport in or out. Then they come. Vampires who know they have hit the jackpot here in Barrow. These vampires arent of the seductive victorian grain either. They are animalistic and have more then just a pair of fangs. They dont just thirst for your blood, they enjoy filling you with fear, hunting you down and tearing your throat out.

Melissa George is separated from her husband played by Josh Hartnett. Getting stuck in Barrow is the last thing she wanted but she didnt know how right she was. She comes off just as good as she was in the remake for Amityville Horror. Mark Boone Junior, who you may know from Raimi's The Quick & the Dead stands out as another town hero. As you're jumping out of your seat, you'll be wondering who is going to stay alive. The remaining townspeople will just have to wait for the sun to save them. The movie does have two problem areas. The passage of time, and a seemingly hurried ending. Other than that, it's too bad if you scare easily, because you wont forget those nightmarish faces.
