I was unimpressed with this movie. I vaguely remember watching the original when I was younger, but my memory about that is spotty. All I can say, simply, is that this felt like three of my favorite Englishmen (Jude Law, Michael Caine and director Kenneth Branagh) posturing for the sake of posturing. It comes off as convoluted and pompous and not an ounce more of anything other than actors preening for the camera.
I honestly cannot think of anything more to add to that opinion. I could flesh out the "review" with a synopsis which needs a heavy handed editor, but that's the point of the synopsis already being in the system.
I did not like this movie. It bored me. Enough said.
