I watched the intro portion of the DVD, the beginner part of the story where you get to see Jason Schwartzman's character interact with Natalie Portman who is playing his ex girlfriend. The scene was a big one that the fanboys were geeking out for because you got to see whole Portman ass in it, in fact the nudity is more clever than how they found a way around her nudity in CLOSER.
However, based only on that scene, which has an ugliness and rank smell to it that permeates off the screen, I'd say that the salacious scenes in CLOSER were actually more arousing.
I honestly didn't like this movie. It lands in the so-so region for me with the bland three star rating that I will give a movie that has good actors, great direction, beautiful art direction and cinematography and even an engaging story and yet... I just didn't connect with it.
Brothers relate to one another differently than sisters do. Perhaps this was the movie intended for a viewing audience of males that had all grown up with brothers who had strong ties to their father but not their mother. I'm not in that demographic, so while the movie had everything right going on with it, I just can't commit to saying that I liked it.
And the porn 'stache on Schwartzman has just got to go. Blech. Totally downgrades him and distracts from his brilliant level of subtle acting.

| I agree, I totally wanted to love this movie but I ended up leaving the theatre a little disapointed, like you said it had all the aspects of a great movie , and I loved the cinematography but it ended up being just ok for me.... my husband to my surprise absolutley loved this movie, guess it is a man thing. |
