Movie Review by Chris
January 24th, 2008

Finally, A Good Resident Evil Film

As a teenager growing up and playing the Resident Evil games, the first two films did not stand out at all to me. I was definately interested in seeing the movies, so I did. The first movie was good, not excellent and not horrible, but good. The second movie was just straight bad. It ultimately dissapointed me that the series did not deserve what happened to the first two films. When I first heard news on Extinction, I first looked at the director, and guess what, it was not Paul Anderson. I was happy. Back to the review, this is what the games deserve. This film features some eye popping action scenes, great visual effects, and an all around new look and style to the film. Another thing is, this film is actually as violent as the games, something the first two wasnt.

Milla Jovovich returns to play as the killer Alice. I actually liked her in the first film, not to much the second. She grabs ahold of the characer deeply in this one, unleashing a brand new Alice for the brand new film. Ali Larter takes over the position for Claire here, and I have to say, Im kind of dissapointed. I watch her in Heroes and she does an amazing job at it, but shes lacking the bad ass attitude and personality that Claire had in the second film. Mike Epps returns for a little while in here, and is not as funny as he was in the second film. His character seems more serious now, less of a funny guy.

Russel Mulcahy takes over Paul WS Andersons directing chair to direct this final film in the trilogy. His directing over takes Pauls by miles. Paul used a lot of editing to try and "spice" up all the action and everything. Russel just puts in some adrenaline pumping angles and all the perfect moments for scares and everything else. This film is actually violent, something I hoped for. The first two films were really dry and just not in Resident Evil style. This film, we get greeted with bloody headshots, some machete action, dead birds and much more. Nuts.

Bottom Line: Its About Damn Time!
