1FUM

in case you were wondering that is 1 F***** Up Movie.
And that is exactly what Halloween is. At least, the Rob Zombie version, but what did you really expect.
Yes it is your typical slasher movie the remake of the Carpenter classic. This movie however digs a little deeper into the origin of Michael Myers which in itself is a very interesting and twisted story. The child actor they got to play Michael Myers was very good, he had the whole look in the face, the vast emptiness and apsence of remourse in those eyes and was just a good little psychopath.
Rob Zombie truly captures those dark realms of the human psyche that few dare to examine which made him a very prime choice for this movie. And he took charge and made a great horror flick.
Is it scary? No not necessarily, but it is very twisted, a movie that you feel dirty just for watching. Something that made me smile was when I watched this movie in theaters there was a group of people that actually got up and LEFT within the first half hour. Rob Zombie had to be doing something right, these movies are not meant to be movies that make you feel better about yourself or smarter in the conventional way, and that could be why these types of movies offend us so much.
One thing I commend Zombie for is his ability to take the awkward sexual themes of any horror movie and just make them funny, especially in this movie, every couple that ends up "doing it" always has something wrong with the whole experience, a funny little poke at the awkwardness of teenage intimacy.
All in all I enjoyed it, Zombie is a bit close-up happy, but that is a choice and some of the themes were very strong and intense but if your looking for a good, twisted horror flick and you liked the original, give it a try.
