I used to kill people who looked liked me.
My Favorite Movie Quote For Animal :
Berwell: Smarten up, James. Stupid is a choice too.
Animal was another one of those never heard of films that I picked up out of sheer desperation. I saw Ving Rhames on the cover and Terrance Howard on the back of the DVD case and thought.....It cant be that bad......
Boy was I surprised when it turned out to be a really great flick! Animal (Rhames) is in prison for a crime. He is big and has a reputation for being a bad ass so of course he is constantly f*cked with in prison and he is always having to show somebody who the real gangsta is.
His son (Howard) is on the outside quickly becoming a major player in the drug community. When Animal is released from prison his son thinks that his father will unite with him so that they can become the next Nino Brown (aka major drug dealers) around the city. Animal has other intentions which include taking the straight and narrow.
His son keeps pushing and doing dumb things that force Animal to get involved....The film is really about Animal trying to get his son out of the criminal lifestyle.
Ving Rhames is excellent as always and Terrance Howard was good but it was kind of unbelievable that he would be Ving Rhames son. Also there is a few scenes with mafia / actor GOD Chazz Palminteri...that's a nice touch as well because I had not seen him in anything lately. Other then that for a straight to video flick it had everything that it needed to make it a good solid complete film. I would really recommend this one, and within the past few weeks Animal part 2 was released with Ving Rhames back as Animal. Blockbuster video has the exclusive distribution rights for it so you will have to check it out there.
