A Big Mess!!!
I was very excited when the time finally came to watch War, starring action stars Jet Li and Jason Statham. I actually expected it to be very good. After the first 10 minutes of the movie, I knew I was wrong. With the big advancements in editing technology these days, it seems directors are using it a lot to "spice" up their movies a little bit. War uses the whole quick editing ability way to much. All the action scenes are just one big mess after another, mainly because of the faulty editing and really bad directing. In the end, the film was just another failure in the action genre.
Jet Li is now 44 years old, but he looks good for his age. Jet Li plays as Rogue, the most complicated and hard to follow character in the whole movie. This was a solid part for him because of all the killing and fighting the character gets to do. Jet Li does a good job though, hopefully continues his acting career a little while longer. Jason Statham blew me away in his last movie, Crank. In here though, it seems he pushed i a little far this time. His character is a cop, which just about fits Jason character wise, but he goes a little over the top with many scenes.
The action in this movie was staged and crafted nicely, to bad the directing and editing screwed it all up very quickly. Philip G. Atwell is a new comer to the directng world, and still has some things to learn. The film uses a lot of quick editing moves to try to push the film to the next level of adrenaline, which in my case, I never even got to heart pumping action in here. The directing was also seriously screwed up, I was consantly just being thrown around as people got beat up and shot. All a big blur to me.
The movie has all the goods that a man wants to see in his movie. With just enough nudity to please me, it really ups the anti in terms of violence. The film also has its plot twisting ending which I didnt expect, but also supported a crappy ending.
Bottom Line: A Big Mess To Me
