The Breed (2006)

Johnny wouldn't be caught dead dying.
My first question is why do movies like this always start off with a group of teens or college students going on a trip to a cabin secluded from any sign of civilization? I know that last thing I wanted to do on my week away from school was to go out where there is no chance I could call for help if disaster strikes. My second question is, is it so hard to just kill the dogs? I think the ASPCA would understand on this one.
This has been a streak for me lately. I have seen more movies with non-human villains in the last month than most people do in a year. The list goes Snakes on a Plane, Black Sheep, Bug, Cabin Fever, 1408, Ice Spiders, Kaw and Killer Wave. I can't complain though, good or bad they are all entertaining
Matt and John were two brothers who decided to take their friends Nicki, Sara and Noah to their uncle's cabin for a week of fun. While there, a small puppy showed up and they all quickly became fond of it. The puppy became uncomfortable one night and ran out of the cabin. They followed it outside and Sara was attacked and bitten by another dog. More dogs arrived and started attacking with a bloodlust. Now the group needs to find out how to get away from "The Breed."
This is your typical horror movie with a group of rabid animals. There are moments of suspense, horror and humor. I have to admit I found myself laughing more than anything else and usually at the wrong moments (i.e. suspense and horror scenes.)
Michelle Rodriguez (BATTLE IN SEATTLE) as Nicki was the only cast member I recognized really. She has been consistently placed the role of the tough Latino woman (which if you know many Latino women you know there is a reason for the reputation.) and she does a good job playing that role. This was a good laugh, but not a great movie to deeply get into. If you want to kill some time and you need to not take things to seriously, this is the flic for you.
