Becoming Jane

It is the story of a pre-fame Jane Austen. Anne Hathaway plays Jane. This is the story of a romance between Jane and an Irishman Tom Lefroy (James McAvoy). Although Austen historians claim that this affair occurred, there is no true proof of the romance.

This is a well-acted, well-written escapist period film. Hathaway's accent is flawless and the supporting cast was great. The film ties in the outline of "Pride and Prejudice" and if you have read the book, it is fun to see what scenes in Jane's real life inspired some of Elizabeth Bennett's own adventures and observations.

Check this film out if you are looking for a bit of summer fun, it opens tomorrow.

Rating - PG
Running Time - 120 minutes
