Movie Review by Melanie

Fun and disturbing

I loved seeing the cast of this film interact. The movie has great music, of course, and the over-the-top way they did costuming and everything else was a lot of fun. I found myself humming the songs and ended up getting the CD from the library later. I didn't think it was the absolute best but I did enjoy it. I had a moment the other day wondering why, even in a movie trying to improve race relations is the main character white and the subplots are about the black characters. Isn't that very similar to the 'Negro Day' they have on the show in the flick? I dunno, perhaps I'm analyzing too much. If you like musicals, you'll probably have fun with this movie.
