Pretty dull
Blah horror that really doesn't make a whole lot of sense. There was no real conclusion to the story--things just end with no resolution. I was wondering about Samuel L. Jackson's character at the end--was he some sort of diabolical mastermind? But the movie never answers this. It just ends with a cheesy gimmick whereby John Cusack plays his tape recorder of the horrific night and his wife hears their dead daughter's voice. Scary? I think not. Basically, once Cusack gets through an hour in the room, he knows what's coming, so it becomes more of an endurance test than anything else and the film never shows us anything that might prompt the horrific acts of self-mutilation and suicide the room is supposedly responsible for over the years. A horror movie needs to be 'R'-rated--no more of this half-hearted PG-13 crap.
