classic boy meets girl

Yea, it's an old one, 1949 to be exact, but it's a good one. With Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra starring, On the Town is a story about 3 sailors who get a 24 hour leave from the navy in the wonderful town of New York City. While boarding a subway, Gaby (Gene Kelly) briefly meets and loses the wonderful "Miss Turnstiles" (Vera-Ellen), the all American role model for women, and suddenly their short stay in the city is turned upside down. The treo spits up in search of Gabby's love bird, and in the process find loves of their own. Chip (Frank Sinatra) meets, and eventually falls in love with Hildy, the over obsessive cab driver, while Ozzie finds his woman, the beautiful anthropologist who thinks he's a perfect living replica of a prehistoric man. This wild goose chase takes them from the Empire State building to Coney Island, where the "good girl" Miss Turnstile's real self is revealed. This is one of Frank Sinatras finest movies, with wonderful music to boot. I would definitely recommend it for all lovers of old movies.

Good review! But I couldn't really get into the movie too much. But hey Frankie is your man!

There's nothing wrong with a classic! Great first review; it's short, sweet and actually makes me want to see the film, which I've only heard of. I know you're a fan of the oldies, however if it ain't James Stewart or Hitchcock, I'm usually not interested.

However, since I feel like I pressured you into your first review, know that I'll be adding "On The Town" to my netflix and I'll try to check it out asap, by moving it to the top of the list.

Great job - SCF
