Movie Review by Tim
October 2nd, 2007

Well, we're all from beaver, ain't we?

Bug turned out to be a different type of film other then what I had expected. Plot summaries are great to read but the one that I read (not on this site) gave me a totally different vision of what the film actually turned out to be.

I must say that this film started off on the wrong foot with me. For the first 5 minutes of the movie all you get to hear is this annoyingly loud phone ring time and time again with only a few breaks of it being answered just to be hung right back up. This reminded me SOOO MUCHH of the damn phone ringing in Once Upon A Time In America which probably lasted for a solid 2 minutes.

After you get over the phone ringing which comes back several times in the film and is never actually explained why the f*ck its actually ringing in the first place or who was calling if anyone was.......then you get to see one of Ashley Judd's greatest performances ever (well at least since Heat) and she also looks great as a trashy coke addict.

I will say that Michael Shannon was awesome as well, I cant say if this is better or worse then usual because I can't place him in any other movie..... I know I have seen some stuff that he has been in but do not remember him.

For those of you wondering the film is not a horror film, it does show Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon naked and the cast only features about 6 people and one pizza mans voice delivering a pizza that no one ordered....which is not explained.

There is one pretty cool scene of Shannon tearing out one of his teeth with a hand tool of some sort....but even this could have been a little more gruesome.
The ending is very average.....it just ends....leaving nothing to wonder about the ending scene but definitely not elaborating on any elements of the film.

So in all....it was not bad as a one timer...but I really doubt I would sit through it again. Unless my choices were this or The Fountain.

SPOILERS !!!!! SPOILERS !!!!! SPOILERS !!!!

The film is called Bug , yet not one bug is actually in the film....I don't have a problem with that but just thought it should be mentioned.
