Favorite Movie Quote: "Even if that guy was charming and funny, I still wouldn't like him."
I think that's probably the best crack at Dane Cook (my favorite quote listed above) that I've ever heard.
I ended up watching this movie based on the fact that people were telling me that this was the best that they'd ever seen the guy. And I have to agree. After suffering through one too many movies where people are trying to cast Cook at the leading man in a romantic comedy, it was refreshing to see him play a side character who is completely degraded for his stupidity and weakness. In fact, I think if I were to guess out of all the roles I've seen him in, this is the one where Dane Cook was actually being the truest to his real, personal self... as opposed to the stupid douchebag character that he's always trying to get off playing.
Overall the movie is very well done and far better than I've seen from both Kevin Costner and Demi Moore in quite some time as well. While it can be formulaic and predictable in spots, I will not deny that there weren't a few moments that honest-to-dog surprised me in their placement in the storyline.
Overall, this is a very good thriller if you're into that kind of thing and one that doesn't make you feel stupid or manipulated for it by its closing. And considering the way most thrillers are these days, that's really saying something.
