Good, Fast Paced, But Lacks

Favorite Movie Quote: "Here is the thing about the future. Every time you look at, it changes, because you looked at it, and that changes everything else."

I have really been anticipating lately to see Next, based off of Philip K. Dicks Novel, The Goldne Man. While the film had its talents in terms of visual effects, action, sci fi and a great cast list, the film lacks in some ways. From the movie being boring and all the way to the absoulutely horrible script, all these things could have been avoided.

Next tells a story of Las Vegas magician Cris Johnson, (Frank Cadillac is his stage name), and how Cris,(Nicolas Cage) can see into his future, only two minutes ahead though. When one day, he sees a girl in his future, but farther into the future then usual. After a mix up in a hotel which deals with assault with a gun, Cris is on the run from FBI agent Callie Ferris(Julianne Moore). All Callie wants though, is Cris's help in finding a stolen nuclear weapon which is doomed to blow up in LA. After finally meeting Elizabeth (Jessica Biel), she gets mixed into it, turning his life into an action story.

Nicolas Cage is one of my favorite actors of all time, I really dont know why. He does a perfect job in Next, getting all the charisma and the perfect energy and look of the character. Julianne Moore I am fairly dissapointed of, I loved her performance in Hannibal, but couldnt get into her in Next. She seemed to not try hard enough in creating a hard ass cop, which the character demands. Jessica Biel, along with Nicolas Cage, does a terrific job in her character of Elizabeth and gets everything right character wise.

Next did not dissapoint when it came to creating the action part of the film. Lee Tamahori did Die Another Day back a few years ago, and nailed every action scene in there. From the visual effects to all of the shootouts, this was the movies big stand point.

The film does support some flaws though. The movie has a tendency to lose your interest in some points, because it really starts to get boring about 45 minutes in. The script is also a complete and utter failure to.

Bottom Line: Enjoyable.
