f*cking sandals!
I am not going to attempt to outline the plot of this movie.
Because it barely has one.
Nor am I going to attempt to explain what the ATHF itself is all about.
Because you need to see it to believe it.
Suffice it to say: if you are a fan of the show, go see this movie. It's more than just a 90 minute version of the show. Aside from just the ability to curse, they also take their already outlandish concepts even further. You get to see what the Abe Lincoln and wooden rocket ship from the opening credits of the TV show are all about, plus more Dr. Weird than you could have hoped for (or wanted). You even get to see the short-lived fourth member of the ATHF (and where the name of the group comes from).
Another big bonus are the cameo voices, including Bruce Campbell, Tina Fey, Chris Kattan, and the very improbable Neil Pert (actually playing himself - "Drum solo - OF LIFE!"
Make no mistake: this movie makes no sense. Don't try to follow it or apply logic to it. Just let the vulgarity and grossness wash over you. If for nothing else, the heavy metal concession items that kick off the movie with their tirade against poor audience behaviors, called Linoleum Knife (actually performed by Mastodon) is worth the price of admission alone.
For the geekier of us, at one point the ghost robot from the future talks about how much he likes Bob Clark, and at one point Master Shake delivers the best line of the film: "You've got a VCR in your head? It's all David Cronenberg up in here." During the credits, you'll see Don Coscarelli mentioned under Special Thanks. And you should be watching the credits, because there is an extra scene that follows them.
If you're not a fan of the show, you might want to avoid this one. Whatever you don't like about it is no doubt amplified in the movie.
