One Fantastic Thriller, Which Has Amazing Acting
Disturbia Movie Review
Director: D.J. Caruso
Actors: Shia LaBeouf, Sarah Roemer, and David Morse
Rated PG-13: For Sequences of Terror and Violence, and Some Sensuality
Distressed by his father's untimely death, a teenager (Shia LaBeouf) begins acting out and soon finds himself under house arrest after getting into trouble one too many times. To help pass the time stuck indoors, he begins spying on his neighbors, only to become convinced that the guy living across the street is killing young women.
Disturbia has got to be the BEST thriller I've seen for at least 3 years. Disturbia has Great Acting, Great Directing, Great Special Effects, and Fantastic Writing. First off I'd like say I don't believe this is a remake of Rear Window, the director/actors/and writer all commented that it wasn't and I trust them over some pissed off old people who say, "you can't remake an Alfred Hitchcock film". If anything it's a LOOSE modern translation of Rear Window and not a direct remake, but who freaking cares!!!!!!
Disturbia's best aspect is a very tough call considering it was an amazing thriller, which played with your mind all the time and had a great mix of Romance, Drama, Horror, Comedy and Suspense. If I had to pick it would probably be the Acting, Shia LaBeouf, really grew up from his CRAPY Disney years, and now should not even be insinuated with Disney, if I not mistaken his last Disney film was "The Greatest Game Ever Played" and he's not been around them since then, so I'm not some immature older person who says this movie sucks because Shia is from Disney, that's complete bull and its VERY immature. Sarah Roemer, plays a very sexy new neighbor in the film and does a very good job at it, she also plays the part where there's more to her than a hot body, and it definitely plays out during the film. David Morse does a very good job, he's a generally creepy man in the film and plays with the part so well, and it really works. Carrie-Anne Moss and Aaron Yoo are also very good in their non major roles, but they are important within the film.
The Writing was the films second best aspect. One thing this movie does that not many other horrors/thrillers do is introduce characters, and this films character development was definitely top notch, You see the characters as who they really are not just some stupid teens who think there neighbor is a murderer, you get introduced to everybody and it just makes you like the cast an characters more than you did before, the writer also did an amazing job at mixing in Drama, Comedy, a Love Story, Suspense, Horror, and the Thrills all into this movie. I praise him for that
The Directing and Special Effects tie in at last place but they are good aspects. For the Special Effects I'm going to mention the uses, like a camera phone, a camera, I just basically loved how they fit modern time electronics into the film and at the same time they still used older stuff like binoculars. That worked very well for the film. The Directing was very well done, I loved the feel of the film and I loved how the director and writer always made you think and made you wonder if he was imagining it all.
Overall I Honestly Don't Care What People Say About This Film Being Connected To Rear Window. As A Solo Film Which Is How It Should Be Reviewed It Was An Amazingly Done Nail Biting Thriller, and Shia, David, Sarah, Aaron and Carrie All Do Amazing Jobs, So See It For Disturbia Don't Insinuate This Awesome Film With Some Old Film, Leave That For The sh*tty Horror Remakes Like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre/The Hitcher/House of Wax.

| I agree with you. i loved the thinking aspect to Disturdia, it wasn't they type of mindless killing, torture movie that have become popular lately, for some reason. There was depth, and you actually had to think instead of waiting for every character to be slowly and painfully killed off. and i also think Shia LeBeouf did a great job. He's come along way from Disney's Even Sevens and I do admire his acting ability. he's should taken more seriously. |
