Movie Review by Chris

So Bad Its Good

Alien Vs Predator Requiem is certainly better then the PG-13 rated predecessor a few years back. But in the case of Requiem, we do get more action, more gore and an all around faster paced sequel. Also, the movie is so bad, its good. I thought that the first time directors The Strause Brothers tried to add useless character developments mixed with useless teen drama and a bunch of teen characters. This all becomes too much in a simple based horror film. The movie does a better job because of the hard R rating, because it feels like the older Aliens and Predators movies, just a lot worse then they turned out to be. I also thought that the movie failed by trying to scare its audiences and what not.

The script to the movie is horrible, written by Dan O' Bannon. The characters are all horribly written and their backstories have been seen a million times before. Also, the dialogue is horrible, it sounded as if it was a simple amatuer movie other then a big expensive million dollar blockbuster. The directors tried to add little drama here and there just to try to change the film around a little bit. Instead, it made the movie boring and completely useless, because all I wanted to see was some fighting.

The movie turned out to be like Alien VS Predator VS Humans, or teenagers for that fact. The cast is almost completely teenagers, so it made it feel like every other gory slasher movie I have ever seen. Dont get me wrong, the gore is definitely here. We get decapitations and plenty of impalings and what not, but it got boring after a while. The fights between the actual Predator and Alien were shot nicely. There are about 4 major fights between them, the last one being the best of the group. Though the directors kind of ruined the reputations of these once savage beasts, I think that another sequel that is good is worth a try. Just not something like this.

Its a bad movie, but so bad that it is good. It has gore and a few worthy action scenes, but fails under the story, script and all around main film. See the Unrated DVD if you have a chance, more gore!
