Don't say f*ggot, you don't call people f*ggot
I really wanted to like this film. I remember reading about it before it was released and thinking that it sounded really interesting. Also the cast seemed great being that you had Sandler, Tyler and Cheadle.
I think what made me not like this film is the character that Sandler plays. I do not know if it was the way he played it or the way it was written but the character annoyed me so bad in the film that it made me not want to watch it. The character is having some serious mental issues which is fine but the way he takes it out on everyone really pisses me off. The one person that is trying to be his friend is constantly getting verbally and even physically abused from Sandler.
I thought it was very strange how the script almost seemed to be written NOT to mention the 9/11 terror attacks. You know as the audience that the attacks are the cause of death for his wife and children but it isn't mentioned specifically.
I guess this is Sandler's "Majestic" being a really serious drama with NO comedy involved. He has done other dramas such as Click and Spanglish but they had some funny elements mixed in. This film is really a dark drama but the chemistry just doesn't work for me.....it just does not seem accurate enough for the condition symptoms that Sandler's character shows.
I hate that I didn't like it but I would be lying if I said I did. I will say that I seem to be the only person that was not impressed as every review I have read has been pretty good, another reason why I rushed to rent it.
