Alright Film
Attempts great depth, but falls when failing to keep the thread tight. Both Sandler and Cheadle are good in the film. There's no lack of decent acting here. The problem with the film is that at times you feel like the idea for film is being stretched. It's clear what Adam Sandler's problem is. He lost his family in 9/11, and it's very tragic. The complaint I have is that you know the reason for his affliction early and there's no surprises for 124 minutes of film. Most of that time is spent in the thoughts of the shattered life of Sandler. The film would've worked much better in form of something like Awakenings. If you're going to have a movie be 124 minutes long with no suspense or action, you need have it be uplifting. All I felt was depressed.

| It looked like the kind of movie that might be trying too hard. Plus I'm just so sick and tired of seeing sh*t about the trauma that people who were in New York had to go through. People of recent years just love to martyr themselves. You just don't see the quiet reserved nature of WWII vets anymore. And that's a shame. |

I may write 10+ paragraph columns online, but I'm the guy who in real life gives a max, 5 word review of a movie. When my friends asked me what I thought I said "it was just kind of there". Okay, 6 words.....
