Movie Review by Tim

Mystery to me?

Favorite Movie Quote: "Everyone and their mums is packin' round here!"

UGHHHHHH

I just started a "Why is Simon Pegg" so great thread on the message board cause I just do not understand why people are bowing to him and Edgar Wright over this film and Shaun of the Dead.

I went into this film after reading more then a dozen reviews talking about how great it was. I went into this film knowing that it was on IMDB's top 250 greatest movies of all time list with over 80,000 votes and an 8.1 rating. I also went into this film knowing that I did NOT like Shaun of the Dead and that I probably wouldn't like this one ..... and I was right.

British humor is very different from American humor. I have always realized that and I understand that my personal preference is not British humor. I guess it started with Mr. Bean... which I use to love watching as a kid on HBO but for film it never really took off for me.

When the film first started I was getting into it. I liked the fact that Pegg was this hard ass, by the book cop that was getting thrown into a town where no one really had respect for the law. With a surprise appearance of the former James Bond Timothy Dalton I was even more intrigued. Up until the point where they find the weapons and sea mine, which was a pretty funny part.....I was into it but after that the film drastically started getting boring.

No matter what I say I am going to have 15 people tell me that "you don't understand the film" or blah blah blah....any excuse in the world to tell me that I am wrong....just as Gina suffered with her not-so-good review of this film.

I really don't care though, I didn't like it and actually I feel like I am being too generous giving this film the star rating that I did.....I really wanted to give it one star just because I had to literally MAKE myself finish it.

Apparently you're just jealous because you've never fired two guns whilst jumping through the air.

well close...Ive fired two guns at the same time....in fact its harder then it looks in movies......but I did not jump in the air while doing it.....

Shooting one gun accurately while you have two hands on it (depending on firepower/caliber) is difficult enough. It's one of those myths in action movies that drives me nuts, seeing the accuracy with which they shoot, a gun in each hand, while moving in any manner. Especially if the target is moving too.

Actually when I tried it I used two 9mm pistols which for any experienced shooter that's really a small caliber...but a very common one for action stars to wield.

I found that shooting them slowly alternating from one gun to the next was manageable.....firing them rapidly made your hands get out of control and quickly I realized that it would be EXTREMELY easy to blow either one of your hands off with the other hand because both hands are moving backwards so quickly....

Needless to say GUN SAFETY is more important then trying to have fun and look cool.

One thing that dissapointed me about the movie was how slow it was, because, it was slow!

yea thats how I felt as well.....but I dont think it was suppose to be fast paced because again its all about that British humor rather then an action flick.
