Movie Review by Tim
March 17th, 2007

This will not be a trip down memory lane!

I saw this dreadful attempt of another Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. When I was a kid I had the action figures, the Turtle blimp, the cheap skate and whatever the Turtle vehicle was. I loved TMNT, the cartoon and the movies.

I can actually remember a movie theater running a pizza eating contest for the release of TMNT 2, my brother actually got 2nd place and won some crappy prize but TMNT was a big deal back then.

So I knew that this film would have to impress me to get me into the CGI aspect of turtles instead of the live action films that I was use to. Well guess what.......I was not impressed in fact I had a hard time staying awake to even finish it. Here is how they blew it.

First off do you remember April O'Neill...the reporter that helps the turtles out? Well in this turtles it is not referenced one time that she is a reporter but instead she has now learned the art of the ninja and helps the fight. Also the designers modeled her after Laura Croft from Tomb Raider, its really sad that they could not come up with something a little more original. Also she is now Casey Jones's girlfriend. Do you remember Casey Jones? Kind of a muscular guy that kicked ass with the turtles. Well now he is a 130 lb, tall, lanky crime fighter that reminds you of Jason Voorhees on crack.

Splinter has been given these ridiculous shoulder things, I don't even know what to call them but he looks really goofy almost like they tried to make him look like a rat version of the shredder. His voice really sucks to.

The only thing I liked about this film was Laurence Fishburne narrated the first 3 minutes and you get to see about a 30 second fight between Raphael and Leonardo. Everything else sucked. With CGI / animation you have an endless supply of ways to make action sequences. My friend and I both thought that we had seen better turtle cartoons on TV then this whole film. With tons of drag spots and just a completely boring and rather stupid plot, I would definitely save your money. If you feel compelled to spend $7.00 you would be better off throwing out the window going down the highway, at least it will save your time!

yea, the best part was that some little kids put on a karate show before the movie came on and they screwed up big time dropping their bow staffs.

your retarded, this was a way sweet TMNT, just because its not the same story as the 90's does not mean its a bad movie. oh and i had lil' ninja kids come in my theatre to, they kicked A** it was by far the greatest mid-night showing of any movie i have been to in my lifetime. plus it gives way for a second movie.. cant wait.

I retarded because I am a grown man that did not like a TMNT cartoon? Just because you had a good show before the film does not make the film any better. If you read the review again you will see that I graded the movie on alot more then just that it did not follow the 90's story.......it could have been "way sweeter."

Any movie - I mean any movie - that has Ziyi Zhang deserves at least 3 stars.
