Movie Review by Jessica Film Junkie
March 13th, 2007

Pretty Good

There is just nothing like a good Marx brothers film, and though this is no 'Duck Soup' it is still notable for the one-liners and great slapstick. Plus a whole lotta opera!

The bros play men who for whatever reason are involved in the opera business and are helping a background actor to become a leading man. Let's face it, who gives a crap about plot when you have classic moments like the contract negotiations between Groucho and Chico.

Classic.

Just saw that Kitty Carlisle died. She sang "Alone" in this film. They were going to have her lipsync, but she insisted on singing. I remember her on "I've got a Secret" in the early decades of my life. There is an outstanding obit in the NYT 4/19/07. She was an accomplished woman.
