Garbo Laughs!
Credited as the film where Greta Garbo laughs, this film was intelligently scripted by Billy Wilder as it follows Garbo as the title character, a Bolshevik in Paris who is trying to sell some royal jewels to feed her comrades back home. The film is a romance, but underneath is a fairly equal look at Communism and the flaws of Capitalism.
Topical during any time period, but especially feminist for the era.
