Billie Burke Steals The Show

A dramedy about the upper crust of New York society who are being summoned for an important dinner party. Everything falls apart under the weight of the Depression, alcoholism and adultery. Billie Burke (best known as Glinda The Good Witch in 1939's 'The Wizard of Oz') and Jean Harlow steal the movie from two, count 'em two, Barrymores (that would be John and Lionel), but the film never really finds its feet. The ending is definitely the best part and it almost makes up for the rather rocky road to conclusion.
