Movie Review by Zombie Boy
May 5th, 2007

Ugh.

What a tedious movie. Two and a half hours that felt like ten. I heard recently that they are considering going ahead with a 4th, 5th, and 6th, which begs the question of why they tried to cram so much crap into this one?

Sandman character? Destroyed. They took Thomas Haden Church, gave him nothing to do, and then kept switching him from bad to good and back again, kind of like what Peter Jackson did with Jack Black in King Kong. His origin in the movie was stupid, and his presence in the movie itself worthless.

Venom character? Destroyed. They boiled down his origin to a completely nonsensical meteor dropping from the sky, and then compound the idiocy by having Peter's professor, who infuriatingly refused to become the Lizard AGAIN, deliver some Maguffin lines "explaining" the alien symbiont. By the time Venom finally got around to being Venom, I no longer cared.

And then there was the new Goblin, who FURTHER served to bog the movie down with scenery-chewing nonsense.

As I feared, the after-school special feel that the second installment had was brought to a fever pitch here, with SpiderEmo, as Zara so accurately coined him. Everybody acts like an a**hole, everybody learns a lesson, everybody gets their feelings validated.

This movie sucked. It was an excuse to have special effects. It was better than Superman Returns and Hulk, but that isn't saying much. The one star is strictly for Bruce Campbell alone.

Ok so this is a long film, maybe too long. But the story stays good along with all of the action. I just dont understand how you cant enjoy a film of this size.

You don't have to understand it. Not anymore than I have to understand how you COULD like a film of this size.

I'm beginning to see what Zara talks so highly of you. You seem to be very similar people.

I couldn't agree with you more. Some of the effects were decent, but this movie was a waste of time. I still can't believe the praise that is being thrown onto this piece of crap--the plot was atrocious, the acting was mediocre, and it committed the unpardonable sin of being downright boring for a majority of the time.
