Movie Review by James
February 26th, 2007

This film could've been cool, maybe even awesome. But man, they ruined it. Jim Carrey is a strong actor in my opinion, but when he tries to be a sorta noir, 50s-style, saxophone playing, lone-wolf detective, well...it just doesn't sit right.

I dug a lot of the shots and techniques used in this movie. There was even one shot that I always wanted to do. Where the lights from cars pass by on your wall or ceiling.

This movie made me laugh a few times, usually not intentionally. Don't do dramatic close-ups on a dog if you're not being silly. I mean, it just looks dumb. Also don't use lines of dialogue such as, "I'm a killer. I KILL people!" And above ALL else

---------------------------------------SPOILER WARNING-----------------------------------------

Do NOT use f*cking AMNESIA as your big twist and explanation for the film. UGH, isn't that common sense? When did soap operas become reference material?

---------------------------------------END OF SPOILER--------------------------------------------

Also the name "Robin Sparrow" isn't clever or cute. However the name "Sirius Leary" is hilarious. Srsly.

So points for using some cool techinques, including, shots, color use and other stuff, also for some good acting and humor.

Who knows! You might. I never want to seem like my opinion should be yours. I like movies that people hate, and vice versa.
