You've got bad credit, but good character!

Favorite Movie Quotes For : The Astronaut Farmer

Will Beacon: Mr. Farmer, how do we know you aren't constructing a WMD?
Charles Farmer: Sir, if I was building a weapon of mass destruction, you wouldn't be able to find it.

This is a good film to point out one thing that a director can do that absolutely thrills me and is one of my favorite things to enjoy when watching a movie. That is when you watch a film and at some point you see a really big star that was not advertised at all as being in the film. 30 Minutes into this film a very familiar face shows up and not just for a cameo, but Bruce Willis actually had a decent size part in this and is not listed in the credits at all.

So with that being said this film started off on a good note. I REALLY wanted to see this movie and have had to wait for a while because leave it to Blockbuster to only get in 6 copies of this DVD in while they get 55 copies of Animal 2 (which you probably have not heard of.)

I was not disappointed at all. Billy Bob Thorton is just at that point in his career where he always gives a good performance. I am going to speak more of Virginia Madsen which I have been aware of since the first Candyman movie but she has been getting a ton more roles lately in films like this, The Number 23 and Firewall. I have always thought she was really wonderful and have often thought that she was overlooked. Virginia Madsen gives a very powerful performance that is really necessary for this plot to work.

I wanted to give this film 4 stars but the one thing I didn't like about it was that it was PG and it was sort of geared more towards kids. Don't get me wrong I think its great to make kids movies I just went into it thinking that the atmosphere would be a little different. That assumption most likely is because they have been showing the preview all over cable and the main quote in it is talking about weapons of mass destruction which does not make me think of Barney and High School Musical. That's a little bit of an exaggeration its not that kiddish but more then I wanted to see.

In the end it was a strong film which I think had the potential to be even stronger but for the budget they worked with it turned out pretty good.

yeah I can see where some people would think this films blows......but the main problem is that for 3 weeks nothing that great has come out on DVD so I have been scrambling trying to find something to watch!
