Dammit!!!
"I want to see this movie, I want to see this movie, I want to see this movie!!!!!!!
Will they hurry the f*ck up and just release it so that the 5 stars I'm giving it now I can actually confirm?!?!?!?" - I posted this when I first made my "review" for this flick.
Now that I've seen it (03/24/08), this is what I REALLY thought.
I "got" it, mainly because when Kelly throws references at you to Apocalyptic moments, bible references, inside Hollyweird jokes and all of the jokes within jokes in politics, he's pretty damn blatant about it. He's also blatant in casting a bunch of faces which are extremely familiar. I'm not just talking about The Rock and Prinze but every single member of SNL who you loved or barely remembered (Nora Dunn, anyone?). This movie is a distraction like an animated movie that relies on being popular because of the popularity level of the actors doing the voices rather than having a good story and getting the right voices for the roles. Prinze as the porn star who chooses the last name Now (National Organization for Woman, who are pro-women and oppose pornography as degradation to poor lost souls - gee, Kelly, you were UBER clever when you thought that one up). I wanted to like this movie. I really did. I didn't have high expectations after hearing the early reviews once it originally premiered at Cannes and was booed, ended up spending over a year getting heavily re-edited and then still.... blech. I crossed my fingers, then got absolutely annoyed with the film and walked away during the last 15 minutes. I have since been filled in that it had one of the most anti-climatic endings that the person I was watching it with had ever seen. So, um, yeah.
