Really Very Bad

Probably the worst movie Gene Kelly, Judy Garland and Vincente Minnelli ever made in their lengthy careers. It is a ridiculous musical about an actor (Kelly) pretending to be a pirate to save a Caribbean girl (Garland, playing Caribbean...seriously).
The movie is overtaken by Kelly's immense dance numbers that drive us away from any semblence of a cohesive plot, which probably has a lot to do with how drugged up Judy Garland was in this moment of her life. Her marriage was falling apart and the unhappiness of working with her gay husband and his rumoured lover (Kelly) reads all over her face.
Garland seems to sleep-walk through much of the film, while Kelly prances around like the set is his own personal gym.
Very Disappointing, considering who is involved.
