Idiocracy (2006)

Idiots in Democracy
Favorite Movie Quote: "Some had high hopes the genetic engineering would correct this trend in evolution, but sadly the greatest minds and resources where focused on conquering hair loss and prolonging erections."
Idiots in democracy? Why, I could never imagine such a thing!! [Insert extreme sarcasm here]
Not only does this film point out a lot of things that happen in our society today (such as beauty becoming more important than brains, and morons in office), but it throws humor into the equation while overemphasizing the fact that we need more reading, and less breeding.
Okay, so the movie isn't that serious, but it's damn fun to watch. It brings a lot of humor to things that almost seem like they really could happen within the next few centuries. The fall of America and what we really should expect to similarly happen if society doesn't pull it's act together has never been more accurately displayed.
Because let's face it, imbecilic swine seem to have much stronger genes and a higher sperm count than the few of the intelligent humans alive in our country.
We are guided from the year 2005 to 2505 as two average people are put into time machines for an army experiment that is forgotten about less than a year later, prolonging their sleep.
Hilarity ensues as we see FuddRuckers turn into "Buttf*ckers" with the course of time, Carl's Jr. is able to take custody of the children of a woman who can't afford to buy some French fries, and every other main stream corporation has become a wh*re-house. Politicians in office are elected by how slutty they dress, or how famous they are. Imagine Jessica Simpson as our Secretary of State.
Since the main character, Joe Bauers, is from 500 years in the past, where society has not yet fallen victim of such stupidity, he is known as the smartest man in the world. And from there, he is chosen to become the Secretary of Interior, even though he doesn't even know what that is.
With the help of Rita, a hooker from the past also involved in the experiment, Joe is able to save the world from idiocy.
I found "Idiocracy" completely worthwhile, and full of laughable quotes and jokes. I recommend it to anybody who enjoys poking fun at dimwits just as much as I do.
And now, I'm going to go read a freaking book, and hope to God that you all find something better to do as well.

The closest I could come to that statement is maybe, like....10 years ago I watched the Muppet Movie tripping on acid in an abandoned warehouse in Philly with a generator and a bunch of filthy punk rock squatter kids.

It seems that those kinds of people generally understand the bullsh*t of modern society better than other people, who think you NEED a job and a stable life in a nice house to be happy... and all the while still gossip about what the heck Britney Spears is doing now.
Which is probably why the people I saw it with laughed their asses off and loved the film as well.
