Movie Review by Ezra
March 12th, 2007

The latest from Oldboy director Chanwook Park, this completes the "vengeance trilogy" that begins with Sympathy For Mr. Vengeance. Despite the similar titles of the first and last entries, the films are unconnected except for the obvious shared theme of vengeance, and this is not the best one (that, of course, is the phenomenal Oldboy), but it is a beautiful film with an incredible and perversely satisfying third act. It is also probably the most comedic of the three, which doesn't always work in its favor, but is an interesting change of pace for Park, who returns to his more brutal sensibilities throughout, particularly in the aforementioned ending. A very good film from a modern cinematic master.
