Oh where is Jim Henson when you need him.

I use to be a big fan of the Ninja Turtles when I was a kid. Looking back, I'm ashamed of all the crap i acturally watched featuring them. This movie, however, is just an all around good movie. It takes the turtles from their cheesy cartoon and puts them on the big screen in a dark, New York, sewer den. Made before the days of CGI, everything was done practically through the genius of Jim Henson studios. Even though this movie spawned two horrible sequals, this movie shines in it's own light. There are a few downsides though. Even though this movie is more darker and closer to the original comic book than the corny 80's cartoon, it still has it's share of cheezy moments. Also you don't really get any insight into who the turtles are except for Raphael. Who is constantly being poked fun at for his anger problems but is the only turtle who has a halfway realistic and interesting personality. Although when watching a six foot mutated turtle that knows karate, how can you really take the personalities seriously. Not the best movie in the world, but definately a good flick. It's the best one out of all. And most likely will still be when the new CGI movie comes out. Wow... now that one looks like a real piece of sh*t.
