Misleading title

Not really the "Final Friday" as it was advertised, as Jason X and Freddy vs Jason were both released after this.

Nevertheless, "Jason goes to Hell" attempts to bring the story of Jason Vorhees full circle and give closure to fans, but at the same time is a blantant marketing ploy. Like "Freddy's Dead," the filmmkaers were probably desperate to revive an old cash cow and throwing the word "Final" in the title usually works.

This film differs from previous entries in the series by having the spirit of Jason jumping from body to body after Jason's orginal mangled form is blown up by the F.B.I. During the latest killing spree, which is no different from any of the previous 8 films, we learn that Jason has a living sister who was strangley never mentioned before (or after this movie for that matter) and a mysterious bounty hunter seems to know everything about the Vorhees mythology. All you need to know is that Jason is looking for a blood realtive so he can get his old form back, and his sister is the only person who can ever truly defeat him.... kinda.

Add an absurd plot to a series that spiralled out of control four movies prior, mediocre acting, and an insanely cheesy ending, and you get this film. Quality horror went to hell a long time before this movie came out, but this is just more proof.
