Very Inspirational

Freedom Writers is not just a movie to me, but an experience. It expresses content that is real to people, the subject of school, being afraid of whats on the other side of your front door, and the feeling of giving up. Throughout, there are moments of extreme inspiration and emotion. Actually, some tear jerking moments are included to. Lets back this up with an excellent cast and a great human story, the film is amazing.

The movie follows Erin Gruwell (Hilary Swank), a new teacher currently beginning at Wilson High. She expects a nice easy year in teaching, but instead she recieves a freshman english class which supports many problems. The students are disrespectful, mean and hurtful. Erin then goes on a personal journey to change these kids lives and make them look at life in a completely new way.

Hilary Swank (The Reaping), absoulutely delivers an epic performance in here. Her character is extremely spread out in terms of emotions and problems at work and home. The students are widely spread out in terms of the actors and actresses. All of the performances are great though, and some are actually very emotional.

A lot of people would compare this movie to the hundred of other movies which were made with this plot, except this one is completely different. The characters are real, the story is deeply real and raw, plus some moments in the movie are classical.

Bottom Line: Wow

Absolutely amazing movie! Great review! I thought Hilary Swank was going to be hokey or something in this flick, but she turned out a terrific performance...very emotional.

Haven't seen the movie, but I have read the book it is based on. It is very inspiring, and at other times truly devastating in how it illustrates what these kids are going through in their own lives.

Yar, I liked it too. I did feel that it borrowed heavily from DANGEROUS MINDS and for most of the movie I was secretly judging it on that basis. Then of course I got to the end and was blown away.
