" Scaring the little girl? "

I remember watching The Langoliers on TV when it premiered years ago. It was originally aired in two parts and I remember being at the edge of my seat the whole time the 1st part was showing, I really wanted to see what The Langoliers were. So the 1st part came to an end and you still did not get to see them, you had to wait for the next part to come on like a week later.

So the 2nd part came on and I was satisfied with the rest of the story. Something about the plot freaked me out. I guess if you sit and think about waking up on an airplane and only a handful of people are left on the entire world......it starts to get to you. The Langoliers themselves were not scary but I think just the overall story made this film very enjoyable.

The best thing about this film is Bronson Pinchot's wonderful performance. He should have received an award for his role as Craig Toomey but he did not. Also David Morse and Dean Stockwell were great as always. Now if you want to witness one of the worlds worst performances of all time then pay attention to Kate Maberly who plays Dinah Catherine Bellman (the little blind girl that looks like a boy.) She makes you want to grab her neck through the screen and strangle her every time she speaks. She is so bad that its almost comical, you really start to wonder what the casting agent was smoking when they were sitting in the auditions.

The special effects of the film for lack of a better word SUCK, but I have seen worse and its a made for TV movie so I did not count that against it. Stephen King makes a cameo as a business executive which is pretty cool as well. I thought this was a great follow up to King's previous book to television film......."IT"

So take a look at this film if you are into King, time warps, great actors or horrible acting. It is over 3 hours long and there is some drag, not much but some. I would recommend breaking it out on a rainy Sunday.

I've always liked this movie. A classic Stephen King flick. Wish they would make more like this.
