A Great Uprise For A Legend
I was never huge into the Rocky series, because of the fact that I just never got around to sit down and watch all 6 of them before this film. Rocky Balboa is a great example of a great sports film. It has all the things which make an almost perfect movie. It has suspense, memorable dialogue, heart braking scenes and an amazing ending. With Sylvester Stallones wonderful performance and one of the best films since the first, I really enjoyed it.
Sylvester Stallone is beginning to really get up their in his age. With his upcoming Rambo film, which he wrote and directed, his career is coming to an end. For the 7th film in this trilogy, its really great and Sylvesters acting in here is wondefully great. The character of Rocky is not a simple everyday character, but instead, hes unique. Sylvester gets every level of his character nailed with perfection and done with ease. Burt Young plays as Paulie, a really enjoyable and easy to like character. Even though sometimes he can be a real hard ass, hes wonderful. Burts performance is great with him, he gets the character down. Antonie Darver plays as our Mason Dixon, and actually does pretty well.
Directed by Sylvester Stallone, I liked the most simple directorial style of the movie. It has plenty of hand held shots, mostly in the boxing scenes, but besides that the film moves back to the directorial style of the 80's or around that. There are many memorable lines to the movie, and it spreads a few messages around to its audiences.
Bottom Line: Great
