Movie Review by Lisa
August 15th, 2007

The best thing to ever come out of a bargain bin.

I've known for sometime now how great Sarah Polley is so when I came across this lil gem during my rummage through the bargain bin I just had to pick it up.

Sarah Polley plays Hanna an immigrant working a mundane factory job some where in the UK (although the location is not stated). Hanna is deaf however this is of only minor importance, she also seems to be a tad OCD meticulous in her work, only ever eating chicken, rice and apples, and never taking a day off work. Due to this her employers force her to take a months vacation, so off she goes on holiday only Hanna is at a loss without work so she picks up a job as a nurse to Josef an injured man (Tim Robbins) on an oil rig. It is here we begin to see the person beneath Hanna's cold unfeeling exterior.

Hanna is a very complexed character and Polley puts on her best performance, this level of acting is why I love independent film so much. I loved this movie and although it won't be for everyone I highly recommend it especially if you're a Polley fan.
