Movie Review by Lisa
May 16th, 2007

I guess I'll never learn...

I honestly don't know why I continue to do this to myself, why do I watch movies based on books that I loved. I finish reading, "Running with Scissors" last night and as I thoroughly enjoyed it I figured what the hell I'll watch the movie. About 30 minutes in I felt like kicking my own ass for being so naive to think that they would actually do the book justice.... the words "based on" should've told me this would be bad.

Before I begin ranting about all the things I hated about this movie I'll give you what I liked namely Brian Cox (perfect as Dr. Finch), Joseph Cross and Annette Bening.

Now the bad; although the basic premise of the book was present, they cut too many characters, almost eliminated the role of Hope, and made up there own ending. I guess Ryan Murphy wasn't to good a jigsaw puzzle's when he was a kid because this film resembles a jigsaw puzzle with half the pieces missing and the most of the remaining pieces put in the wrong bloody place.

Now just so you know I did watch this movie knowing it wouldn't be exactly like the book, but in my opinion they f*cked it up royally.

In conclusion if you enjoyed the book don't watch the movie, if you haven't read the book you may enjoy this movie a lil more than I did.

Number 100 dedicated to a half-assed movie? :D

I kept thinking that this looked good and am saddened to hear from so many people that it's so average.

I thought the movie was alright, but knowing that there was a book (that I haven't read yet) I figured I could probably get more out of the book than I did out of the movie. It's on my list of books to read. :)
