A great story, extremely well-told, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. The acting is all superb, most notably David Bowie in a completely unexpected turn as Serbian scientist Nicolai Tesla, best-known as the inventor of the Tesla coil. Of course, the ones to really watch here are Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale, equally formidable as bitter rival magicians who never let go of a grudge, and Christopher Nolan's (Following, Memento) direction is excellent as well, creating an utterly convincing period in which the enthralling story can unfold. Impeccable entertainment that I can't imagine anyone will dislike.
